About the company
Stimulus Investments (SIL) is a Namibian private equity investment company established in 2004 and licensed by the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA). It was capitalised through the issue of NSX-listed preference shares, raising N$503 million, mainly from Namibian fund managers acting on behalf of pension and provident funds. As a result, a broad base of ordinary Namibians benefits indirectly from its investments. SIL invests across sectors of the economy, focusing on established, cash-generating businesses that are leaders in their industries and have a proven track record. Investments are assessed on commercial criteria, with an emphasis on a high cash yield, and SIL provides strategic, management and financial support to investee companies where required. Its portfolio has included businesses such as Cymot, Neo Paints and Walvis Bay Stevedoring. Returns above a set hurdle rate are shared 80:20 between preference and ordinary shareholders.
